Ocean Star International (OSI) responds to the earthquake crisis in Haiti by sponsoring all the shipping costs of four 20’ containers full of humanitarian aid from Miami to Port au Prince. Efforts will be coordinated with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami and the Notre-Dame D'Haiti Church.
The 7.0-magnitute earthquake that devastated Haiti on January 12 was the strongest in over 200 years. According to the Red Cross, there are over 3 million people in need of emergency assistance. “Ocean Star stands ready to help in promoting humanitarian relief in this time of dire need. We’ve been specializing in shipping commercially to Haiti for years. It is our civic duty to help in the best way we know how. Our staff is on call and working with community organizations to organize drop off points in Miami and Broward. We’re partnering with the Catholic Charities and other local organizations on the ground in Haiti for delivery points there”, states Chris Norwood, VP of Business Development. “In addition to the four containers we have donated, we are looking for more sponsors.”
OSI will offer two drop off locations and is asking for donations of canned food, bottled water, blankets, clothing, and medical supplies.
